Education

One of the most important activities of the Jurispru-dence Center of Pure Imams (a.s.) is the educational program which includes two stages: higher and post-graduate studies.

In the first stage, the students benefit from open and unrestricted seminary education. The Jurisprud-ence Center selects the best of the students through specific pre-determined criteria. They are taught in 'subordinate' classes by experienced, competent and learned teachers who make sure that the students not only understand the books but also study and carry out research in related areas which normally remain out of the regular syllabus of the Hawzah (Islamic seminary). The aim is to recognize and awaken dormant potentialities and enable students to attend Kharij (postgraduate) lectures with complete preparation. Meanwhile, the students in the first stage are required to write dissertations or treatises as a prerequisite for graduation and promotion to the second stage.

In the second stage, graduate students who have proved their competence and eligibility in the 'subordinate' classes and those of the seminary theologians who have been attending Kharij classes for many succes-sive years are admitted after they have successfully passed an entrance examination and oral interview.

Students who have been admitted for a six year educational term are divided into several groups each with an average of five individuals.

Classes in this stage include learning and researching in such a way that the overall plan and procedures plus their relevant details are introduced by the teachers. The students are required to work and carry out research in those areas as per the direction of the teachers who also help them draw up a conclusion at the end. Finally, the students compile their curricular pamphlets on the basis of accepted and pre-defined standards.

Scientific promotion and progress are gained as a result of taking part in these classes in which this new method is applied. In addition, articles and scientific research works presented annually during summer vacations help students prepare their scientific treatises in the form of theses and dissertations which eventually enable them to enter the Center's research phase successfully.

These efforts have born fruit with dozens of scientific and jurisprudential articles as well as treatises written and accomplished in this section.

It is worth noting that most of the foregoing subjects have gone through the final stages and are ready to be made available. Some of them have been compiled and researched time after time by many researchers while others have been written by one researcher.

Attempts have been made to acquaint the students with basic clues of gaining Ijtehad* (jurisprudence) and dealing with sophisticated jurisprudential prob-lems and current issues prevailing in the society.  Likewise, a comprehensive plan has been made with regard learning and comprehending Ayat Al-Akaam or the law verses of the Holy Quran as well as the principles of jurisprudence.

* Ijtehad is a technical term of the Islamic law that describes the process of making a legal decision by independent interpretation of the sources of the law, the Qur'an and the Sunna.
